Nature Talk & Walk and Treasure Hunt

April 8, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Travis Furlanic, Whidbey’s own fungi expert and owner of Whidbey Mushroom Tours, and a frequent visitor to the Freeland Watershed Preserve (FWP), has graciously agreed to give a talk on the mushrooms (fungi) frequently found at FWP. Travis is also quite an expert on the native plants found there. He will give a 15 minute talk n the hour (at 2 and 3 PM) then turn visitors loose to walk the trails to spot mushrooms and native plants. He will then be available for any questions you may have. Please do not disturb any of the mushrooms you find, just take a photo with your phone. We want to preserve these treasures for others to find. While you are walking the trails, you may find some treasure rocks hidden in spots. Please only take one if you find more.

Directions:

Take 525 to Scott Road then turn right onto Newman Road and within a short distance see sign for Freeland Wetland Preserve
