Whidbey Island enjoys a rich maritime history dating back to the colonization of the island in the 1700s. Learn about some of this history through the story of the Suva, a 68ft two-masted wooden boat that was designed to sail in the Salish Sea and has been anchored in Penn Cove since 1925.
Captain Gene Reynolds will share some history of the Suva and the work of the Whidbey Island Maritime Heritage Foundation as well as provide some lesser-known historical facts about Penn Cove, Coupeville, and Whidbey Island.
