SUMMARY:The Woodpeckers of Washington
DESCRIPTION:Considering that woodpeckers can slam their heads into solid wood up to 20 times a second with a force of 1\,200 Gs\, it’s a wonder they have any brains to think with at all.  Yet these highly specialized birds forage for food\, find mates\, raise their young\, and delight us all with their antics.   Washington State is rich in woodpecker species: 13 different species fill niches from the lowlands to coniferous-clad foothills.  Come let master birder Connie Sidles teach you about them all!

SUMMARY:The Many Myths of Food (and Yard) Waste
DESCRIPTION:Living on an island requires us to be even more conscious about our trash. Join WSU Waste Wise Program Coordinator Sarah Bergquist to learn easy ways to reduce your household food waste\, how to compost even if you live in an apartment\, condo\, or HOA\, and why sending organic waste to the landfill is so problematic no matter where you live.\n\nIf you have ever wondered about the difference between a product’s “Expiration\,” “Sell by” and “Best by” date\, to help you reduce food waste\, then this program is for you!
